Quills and Questions #7: Have I met every person who's purchased one of my books?

Quills and Questions #7: Have I met every person who's purchased one of my books?

Clear transparency: No, I have not. There are orders from people on Amazon that I will never meet, and I hope they are enjoying my work!

However, I'm inclined to say that I have met 90 to 95% of the people who have purchased my books.

Let me explain.

So far, online sales have not been in the cards for me. I hardly ever see results from Amazon, or my website.

I do in-person events. Farmers Markets, Festivals, Bookstore Signings, and now the Authors In Grocery Stores Program.

And by doing this, everyone is purchasing directly from me. I have met hundreds of people; from fellow writers, to parents and grandparents searching for a good book to give to their children, to people who are excited enough in what I've built to get a copy.

I'm being recognized by people across Colorado now (Which, hey, isn't that exciting and amazing?). They're always people I have met somewhere before, and they remember me.

Which is great, because I am slowly building up a fanbase!

It's crazy to think that some day, I will be selling online to people that I will never ever meet. I will never see their faces, nor know their names.

It's, to me, a bit disheartening actually.

I enjoy getting to connect with people, listen to their stories, and see the light in their eyes when they think of gifting one of my books to a loved one.

I get to be a part of their world, even if it's just for a few minutes as we chat in person.

I know someday, if this journey continues to grow, I won't be able to meet all those people anymore. I will lose that personal connection.

But for now?

I take pride in knowing that I have met (almost) everyone who has purchased my books.

And to all of you, I hope that my stories have brought you joy.

If you have any questions, I encourage you to reach out to me on my website’s contact page! I will answer you, and maybe the topic will become a future Quill’s and Questions Post!
