A new year, and terrible about blogging!

A new year, and terrible about blogging!

Much like Demo from Sinner, we are easily distracted and haven't kept you up to date! 2025 has us on our toes already.

Rina left her job at the local diner and has embraced her dream of being a full-time writer.  If you think this means sitting in a plush chair tapping away at her keyboard while Jeeves the Butler brings her gourmet meals, think again.  Carving out time to write the final installment of the Isle of the Dark series has been a challenge.  Rina joined a program called Authors in Grocery Stores, a wonderful opportunity to get Isle in front of fresh audiences. We have high hopes that this will lead to nationwide exposure over time. Standing on her feet 8-10 hours a day, she offers her stories, advice, and support to the local community. People are starting to recognize her, which leaves her a bit bewildered. We were shopping for cat food the other day and a gentleman sang out, "Hey Rina, just finished chapter 6! Loving it!"

She had no idea who he was, and it was adorable watching her face go pink with excitement that a fan was enjoying her work.

Balance has become a priority. How many books to stock? How long does it take for new shipments to arrive? What bookstores will accept our novels, let alone answer inquiries? (It is astonishing how diverse local shops are. Some will accept you with open arms and excitement, others have the bouncer walk you out in shame.) What events should we participate in? How far should we travel? How do we afford all of this? Rina, have you eaten today??

We are writing a children's book, a prequel to the IOTD series that we are excited to share with younger audiences. We have teamed up with Harmony (Ham) Hitzeman, the incredible artist that created the cover for Sinner, to add her talent to our project. We hope to launch that this summer after IOTD 4 and Rayne 2 come out. Then Rina will immediately start Sinner 2.

We are already booked through Christmas with events, and have our eyes on expanding past Colorado borders. Rina has been invited to speak at local schools, inspiring people to chase their dreams and work their butts off to achieve them. I will try to do better to keep you all in the loop as our journey continues.

I have to go pop a pot roast into the crockpot, then get back to writing Can the Rayne Save Tuesday.

Until next time, be well!
